Even though the chief of the Department of Special Investigation has denied that a suspect in the assassination attempt case of the People’s Alliance for Democracy leader worked for him, documents unveiled today contradict his claim.
Documents from the Department of Special Investigation, or DSI, show Police Lance Corporal Worawut Mungsanti, an official from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau and suspect in the assassination attempt against core leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy, Sondhi Limthongkul, was appointed to the DSI’s investigation team responsible for the alleged abuse of Rohingya refugees.
DSI Director-General Police General Thawee Sodsong signed an order assigning Worawut to work in the DSI’s Information and Technology Division.
The car recently confiscated by the investigation team from the home of Worawut’s mother-in-law was also on the DSI’s list as being seized from a drug-trafficking gang.
The DSI chief has earlier denied involvement in the attempt on Sondhi’s life.
