Final Mass Rally to Oust Nominee Killer Government
On November 20, 2008 at 3.25 a.m., an unknown number of assailants launched an M-79 bomb grenade at the People’s Alliance for Democracy supporters who are gathering inside Government House. The grenade landed on top of one of the canvas tents situated near the front of the PAD stage which, at the time, was occupied by the PAD supporters. The grenade exploded and bomb shrapnel injured 23 PAD supporters with 2 serious injuries. One male PAD supporter, identified as Jenkij Kladsakhon, had died from the bomb attack. Jenkij’s death marks the 3rd fatality caused by the government’s killing of the public.
The People’s Alliance for Democracy extends its deepest condolence to the family and friends of Jenkij. Jenkij is a true hero and will always be remembered by the People’s Alliance for Democracy. In addition, the PAD sympathizes with and honors every one of its supporters who have been injured by the deadly bomb attack.
This morning’s tragedy was not the first time the lives of the PAD supporters were threatened by a deadly bombing by government officials and money-for-hire killers of the traitorous government. There have been a series of brutal bomb attacks against the supporters of the PAD, who are mostly women, the elderly and children.
In the morning of November 12, 2008, a grenade was launched at one of the tents which used by supporters of the PAD as shelters at Government House. PAD leader Chamlong Srimuang had then sent a formal request to the Army commander-in-chief and deputy director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), the Region 1 Army chief, the First Infantry Division (Royal Guard) commander, the National Police chief, the Metropolitan Police commissioner and the superintendent of Dusit Police Station to help prevent the use of weapons of war against the public. But the request failed to prompt any government agency into seriously trying to protect the PAD supporters against the weapons of war.
The series of bomb attacks against the PAD supporters were clearly masterminded by the government. Both former and current police officers have turned a blind eye on the killings of the innocent public.
The PAD believes, without the blessing of the police, the perpetrators would not have access to such weapons of war, which was used against the PAD supporters at Government House.
This is proof that the National Police chief, the Metropolitan Police chief and the Region 1 Metropolitan Police commander have conspired with the government to kill the public who have chosen to exercise their democratic rights to protect the Constitution, the monarchy, and the interest of the nation and the people.
The People’s Alliance for Democracy has been rallying to scrutinize the government’s conduct and protect the 3 highest institutions of Thailand: the nation, the religion and the monarchy. Throughout the course of the PAD rally, the government has abused its power and employed various underhanded measures to harm and intimidate the public.
The efforts by the People’s Alliance for Democracy to oust the nominee government and to protest against the attempt to rewrite the Constitution are unfinished because the nominee-Parliament of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra is still determined to rewrite the charter for self-interests and pave the way for the eradication of the Privy Council institution. The abolition of the Privy Council directly diminishes the authority of the monarchy and is, therefore, unacceptable to the PAD.
Due to the above reasons, the People’s Alliance for Democracy is unable to tolerate the conduct of the merciless government and the nominee-Parliament which is under the complete directive of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
The People’s Alliance for Democracy has agreed to launch a final call for the public to join a mass rally at Government House on November 23, 2008 from 2 p.m. The gathering will mark the final chapter of the PAD’s protest against the charter rewrite and the ousting of the proxy killer government and the nominee Parliament.
The PAD is calling for the public to join the historic gathering to protect Thailand’s constitutional monarchy and to exercise their democratic rights according to Article 70 of the 2007 Constitution which allows the public to protect the nation, religion and monarchy.
